For a complete description of our benefits for this position, please visit our website, click here. As a UW employee, you have a unique opportunity to change lives on our campuses, in our state and around the world. UW employees offer their boundless energy, creative problem-solving skills, and dedication to build stronger minds and a healthier world.

The School of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Healthcare Equity Data Analyst and Communications Specialist to join their team.

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Specialist to transform our wealth of program data into compelling narratives that resonate with a diverse audience, including funders, healthcare leaders, patients, and the community. This individual will play a pivotal role in enhancing our program evaluation efforts, uncovering insights, and crafting impactful stories that celebrate our successes, drive strategic decision-making, and attract future funding. This role will also be responsible for managing and updating our website content, ensuring it effectively communicates our programs and impact to our diverse audiences.

This position is housed in the Office of Healthcare Equity, serving a complex network of UW Medicine entities, including hospitals, clinics, and the School of Medicine. The role requires navigating diverse perspectives and interests related to community engagement across this extensive organization. Strong cultural humility and sensitivity are essential for building trust and effective partnerships with communities, particularly those who may have historically experienced barriers to healthcare. Additionally, this position will encounter challenges such as resource allocation, competing priorities, and overcoming institutional barriers to achieve equity goals.

At UW Medicine, we believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right and everyone should have the same access and opportunities for the best possible outcomes. This belief is tied to our mission to improve the health of the public. However, it’s important to acknowledge that institutional racism has created inequities in society — even within our own healthcare system — that result in health disparities. We are committed to transforming the way care is provided to eliminate these inequities. Healthcare equity isn’t owned by one department or leader – everyone shares responsibility. We can all take action in our own spheres of influence and in the work we control.

Research shows that members of marginalized groups – including women, LGBTQ+ identified people, Black, Indigenous, and people of color tend to apply to jobs only if they meet every single requirement listed. At UW Medicine, we want the best candidates for the job, and those candidates may have different forms of experience than the qualifications listed. If you are passionate about uniting, empowering, and celebrating diverse communities for all and breaking down barriers for equity, we encourage you to apply. UW Medicine seeks leaders who represent our diverse workforce and the communities that we serve.

The position directly impacts UW Medicine’s reach into the surrounding area and the underserved members within. This person is at the forefront of ensuring that programs and initiatives reach their audience, to better serve the community. They advocate for these audiences working to highlight and prioritize their needs for UW Medicine. Through data collection, events, collaboration, relationship building, social media, and other engagement efforts, the position not only has direct impact on UW Medicine, but the community they live in.
