About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with experience in clinical research to join our enthusiastic team of research scientists within Airway Disease Section and Vascular Science at the National Heart and Lung Institute.

This post is an exciting opportunity to work on a clinical translational research project entitled “Understanding the role of inhaled corticosteroids on vascular ageing and cardiovascular comorbidities in COPD”.

In this novel study, we aim to further our understanding of how chronic systemic inflammation and accelerated vascular ageing contribute to cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and whether treatment with inhaled corticosteroids protects against endothelial senescence and dysfunction.

What you would be doing

We are currently looking for a Healthcare Scientist to join our study team.

  • You will be directly involved in the recruitment, guidance and monitoring of trial participants and in the collection and documentation of accurate data.
  • You may also be asked to work on new studies, based on your caseload and capacity to take on extra work. As well as working with clinical investigators, you will also work collaboratively with basic scientists and care teams involved in the management of clinical trial patients on studies to which you are assigned.
  • You should provide a high-quality service to all patients within the studies. They will be driven to meet targets and ensure the studies runs smoothly, they will be able to problem solve, work independently and have a positive attitude.

  • You should be a Healthcare Scientist with demonstrable experience in clinical studies.
  • You must have excellent organisational and communication skills, be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

This post is full-time, fixed term for 8 months in first instance (maternity cover).
