Why does the job exist?
The Healthcare Surveyor II/Long – Term Healthcare Surveyor will:
- Perform surveys and investigations of Nursing Homes and Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs) facilities to determine their level of compliance with State and Federal regulations.
How does it get done?
Healthcare Surveyor II/Long – Term Healthcare Surveyor is responsible for:
- Surveying Long – Term Care Healthcare Facilities including but not limited to: Interviewing residents/clients and staff of healthcare facilities, evaluating the facility environment to ensure it meets safety and infection control standards, reviewing records, and ensuring resident/client rights, quality of care and quality of life meet regulation standards.

- New Mexico residents receiving healthcare services.

Minimum Qualification
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation, and/or Criminal Justice and two (2) years directly related experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting and in long term care facilities and ICF/IID with phone and extensive computer usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Extensive in-state with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Some out- of pocket expense with reimbursement is required.
