Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located within the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, Special Projects and Innovation Division, Countering Terrorist Travel Section, Vienna API/PNR Team. The incumbent reports to the Senior Information Systems Officer. This position will support the API/PNR project led by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT). The project aims at building capacity of Member States to Prevent, Detect and Investigate Terrorist Offences and Related Travel by Using Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) Data. The API/PNR project has four implementing partners: Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Provide support on software development matters and in the implementation of new software releases by testing computer application systems and programs, using UN established standards for IT technologies and tools; • Develop, design, expand and maintain Test Automation Framework of UN computer application systems; • Serves as team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems; independently liaises with users to define and specify requirements. • Independently liaise with users to define and specify requirements and problems; • Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations. • Maintains tests and functional specifications for computer application systems, programs and procedures developed and/or modified. • Provides support for deployed computer application systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to users’ offices; performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users requests. • Drafts correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports. • Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions. • Provides guidance to new/junior staff. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Job – Specific Qualification
International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification is required.
Work Experience
• A minimum of 7 seven years of relevant technical experience in software quality assurance or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 5 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. • Minimum of seven years of relevant experience testing .NET, .NET core and C# based web applications as well as relevant technical experience in different types and levels of software testing including functional and non-functional is required. • Experience in developing Test Automation Framework and designing automated testing suites using .NET and C# as well as experience with SCM and build tools such as Azure Devops/TFS is required. • Practical experience of Selenium WebDriver is required. • Knowledge of other web application automation tools such as Cypress, Puppeteer, Playwright, Protractor etc. is desirable • Minimum of two years working experience with Angular, Bootstrap, D3, CSS and HTML is desirable • Minimum of two years working experience with any of the following modern database systems (MariaDB, Microsoft SQL server, Elastic stack) is required. • Knowledge of RESTful and SOAP APIs as well as experience with respective testing tools such as Jmeter, SoapUI, Postman etc. is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

• This position is funded through extra budgetary resources and is temporarily available for an initial period of 6 months.
