The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a 10-month limited-term appointment as Instructor, beginning July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in biochemistry or a related field, and ideally have teaching experience at the undergraduate level in a field related to biochemistry or molecular biology. Experience with laboratory teaching will be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing courses in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the fall and winter terms. In the fall (2026) term, the candidate will teach both the lecture and lab (3 sections) components of BIOC 3400 (Nucleic Acids Biochemistry and Molecular Biology). In the winter term (2027), the candidate will instruct the laboratory course BIOC 2610 (Biochemistry Laboratory Methods & Techniques), which consists of 4 lab sections. The successful candidate will also support BIOC 3620 (Experiential Learning) and program-related initiatives within the department, particularly the development of stand-alone lab courses, by working closely with the assigned course coordinators.
This is an in-person teaching appointment and the position reports to the Head of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. This position is a part of the Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) Bargaining Unit. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
