Political Science – International Relations at the rank of Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track)

The Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Science at Western University invites applications for highly qualified applicants for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of International Relations, broadly defined, with a starting date of July 1, 2025.

We seek individuals who conduct rigorous empirical research in International Relations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service and help advance Western’s Strategic Plan: https://strategicplan.uwo.ca/. They will be able to deliver a range of courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Political Science and the Honours Specialization in International Relations. They will also maintain an active research program and compete successfully for external research funding. Candidates whose teaching and scholarship relates to any of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply – war and conflict, threats to democracy, global justice, international institutions, human rights, and/or inter-state relations – but all strong IR candidates will be given due consideration. As Western Political Science aims to be Canada’s top destination for training in empirical research methods, the ability to teach empirical research methods, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed, will be considered an asset.

Candidates should have a PhD in Political Science or a related field by May 1, 2025 or soon thereafter. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
