The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) is an NGO that brings together nearly 200 civil society organisations around the world. We are recruiting an INTERN AT THE EASTERN EUROPE/CENTRAL ASIA (EECA) DESK
YOUR TASKS
Working directly under the supervision of the Programme Officer and the Head of the EECA Desk, the successful candidate will have the following tasks and responsibilities :
- Monitoring and conducting research into violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, with a particular focus on the human rights impact of repressive legislation recently adopted in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Georgia;
- Drafting statements, urgent appeals, advocacy documents and communication materials;
- Assisting in the organization of events, including workshops and advocacy missions;
- Proofreading, editing and translating publications and internal documents;
- Other tasks, including administrative and logistics assistance, as required by the EECA Desk.
PROFILE REQUIRED
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in international law, preferably with an emphasis on human rights law and/or international humanitarian law, or similar
- Strong interest in and understanding of the political, social and human rights situation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, especially Georgia and Kyrgyzstan, as demonstrated by previous relevant experience; internship experience working in a human rights organization would be considered an asset;
- Fluency in English and Russian required; proficiency in Georgian, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Tajik or French would be considered an asset;
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Full-time internship (39 hours per week) from April to October 2025 (6 months) ;
- The internship will take place at FIDH headquarters in Paris or at the Brussels office.
- Payment of an internship or volunteer allowance depending on the location of the internship and the agreement with the university.

Duration of internship : 6 months
