Under the guidance of the Director of ECW and the direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist, the intern(s) provides technical and operational assistance to various processes in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting data and analysis while learning about organizational processes to support the implementation of the ECW workplan.
Main duties:
- Collecting, quality assuring, analyzing and synthesizing information across ECW programmes to support program development and the design and drafting of the annual results report.
- Performing data quality checks of ECW-supported programme reports and results databases.
- Coding qualitative data to assess the type and extent of changes in outcomes reported by ECW programmes.
- Follow-up with ECW grantees and program managers on their results reporting when necessary.
- Contributing to drafting sections of the ECW annual results report on ECW strategic objectives and/or education outcomes.
- Supporting preparation of communication material, including learning briefs, blogs, and other relevant written material.
- Conducting background research, literature reviews and mapping and analysis of reports and evaluations in education in emergencies on a global and/or country/crisis level.
- Conducting program reviews or mapping through the ECW’s grants database to help synthesize information for learning and knowledge sharing.
- Supporting the development and management of databases and/or tracking tools to improve the M&E team’s ability to monitor the sharing and use of relevant knowledge products.
- Contributing to strengthening the overall ECW information management system.
- Assisting the M&E team with any other duties.
- Interns will also define a project mid-way through their internship and work with an individual staff member to implement it during their internship.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- Be enrolled in a master’s degree programme or have graduated from a bachelor or master’s degree within the past three years.
- Have an academic background in any of the following:
- Education, international humanitarian/development and/or social sciences.
- Quantitative and or qualitative data analysis skills: data analysis, impact evaluation, applied statistics (using STATA, Excel, Power Query).
- Have academic or professional experience in any of the following:
- Synthesizing information and drafting global level reports in English, preferably in education in emergency matters.
- Analytics skills (solid experience using Excel is required, candidates with experience using R, PowerQuery, and other data management and statistics software are encouraged to apply)
- Be proficient in English (speaking, writing & reading) up to the highest standard.
- Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus
- Have no immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office or in the ECW Secretariat.
- Are not disqualified under the UNICEF Child Safeguarding Personnel Standards (DHR/STANDARDS/2019/001), or as amended.
