Job Summary

IOM, UN Migration Agency in Geneva, Switzerland is looking for Senior Advisor (Internal Audit Advisory Services) who will be responsible on implementing best-practice project and change management to support effective decision-making and stakeholder engagement across the organization. The ideal candidate is impact-oriented, solution-driven, collaborative, client-focused, and skilled in people management within a diverse, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide expert support and advice to the Deputy Director, Internal Audit Division in developing a proactive pipeline of advisory services to be undertaken.
  2. Develop a methodology, tools, and plan for the advisory practice.
  3. Plan and manage advisory services at the IOM Headquarters in line with industry standards.
  4. Ensure that their own and their team’s advisory reports are written succinctly, clearly, and provide insightful recommendations for senior management.
  5. Lead various other advisory services such as knowledge sharing, capacity building projects, and assist Senior Management in playing an active role in various internal forums.
  6. Apply best practice project management principles and facilitate change management among different stakeholder groups.
  7. Manage and lead the team in delivering advisory and special assignments, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  8. Provide strategic, expert advice and guidance to the team working on special advisory projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and delivery of high-quality outputs.
  9. Provide technical appraisal and expert guidance to supervisors of staff involved in advisory projects, ensuring that feedback supports quality and compliance with organizational standards.
  10. Provide guidance and support for team’s professional development especially with regards to training and coaching in advisory/consulting methodology.
  11. Work with the Deputy Director, Internal Audit Division to identify potential targets for value-add advisory reviews focused on improving effectiveness, efficiency, and economy.
  12. Deliver a number of advisories per year and provide quality advisory reports.
  13. Ensure advisory services are delivered on time and within the budget.
  14. Manage the engagement with key stakeholders throughout the advisory review.
  15. Manage the follow up of the advisory recommendations.
  16. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other related fields from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • At least seven years (nine years for Bachelor’s Degree holders) of professional experience, including several years in a supervisory or managerial capacity overseeing advisory teams, preferably in management consulting companies;
  • Experience interacting with Executive-level management and Board-level stakeholders;
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of experienced professionals in a multi-cultural setting;
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering on timelines with tight deadlines and across disciplines;
  • Significant experience preparing high-quality, professional documents for senior audiences;
  • At least seven years (nine years for Bachelor’s Degree holders) of top tier Strategy Consulting experience and/or experience in a management consulting/strategy team within an international organization – including experience in transformations, organizational effectiveness, operating model reviews, and/or strategy projects; and,
  • Experience working with multiple sectors, such as United Nations, international organizations, governments, civil society and the private sector.

Skills

  • Project management and change management expertise with the ability to deliver impactful changes;
  • Evidence of effective and successful stakeholder management at operational and management levels within an organization; and,
  • Proven success in collaboration, teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Language

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the the three languages.

For this position, fluency in English required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
