As an Irregular Warfare (IW) policy advisor, you’ll bring your analytical and strategic expertise to work on projects for the Department of Defense. You will provide policy advice on irregular warfare with an emphasis on the AFRICOM area of operations (AOR). 

As an IW policy advisor, you know the fast-paced work environment for executive level audiences and high performing teams to work with. You will offer your expertise through your background in foreign policy, defense policy, engagement planning, experimentation, and security cooperation.

You Have: 

• 5+ years of experience with OUSD-Policy, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Theater Special Operations Commands

• Experience drafting materials for senior executive leadership, including read aheads and talking points for bilateral and multilateral international policy-level engagements

• Knowledge of DoD planning processes

• Knowledge of OUSD-Policy processes and culture

• Top Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have: 

• Experience preparing and briefing for policy-level engagements

• Experience at USAFRICOM or in the AFRICOM AOR

• Experience serving as the lead action officer for trips for international or domestic engagements

• Experience with supporting Congressional engagements

• Experience with campaign planning

• Experience advising executives on significant security cooperation initiatives

• Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Master’s degree in International Relations or Political Science

• Foreign area officer (FAO) or security cooperation qualifications

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
