We’re looking for a confident, proactive Junior Publicist with some experience in PR, communications, journalism or the cultural sector who is ready to take the next step.
You’ll need to be a self-starter with ideas and initiative: someone who can spot a good story, think creatively about how to generate coverage and work independently without needing constant direction.
You’ll work across art fairs, art weeks, exhibitions, festivals, cultural events, book launches and special projects, supporting campaigns from initial ideas and strategy through to pitching, media relations, events and coverage.
Excellent writing is essential, alongside a strong sense of news and an understanding of how the media works. You should have a genuine interest in arts and culture, good awareness of the sector and curiosity about the people, stories and ideas behind our projects.
As a small agency, everyone gets involved. You’ll write and pitch stories, research journalists and media opportunities, contribute campaign ideas, liaise with clients and press, and keep reports, media lists and coverage trackers up to date.
We’re looking for someone with:
Some relevant PR, communications, journalism or media experience
Excellent writing and communication skills
A strong instinct for news and media opportunities
A genuine passion for visual arts and culture
Ideas, initiative and confidence
Strong research, organisational and admin skills
The ability to work independently, accurately and to deadline
Confidence with social media and digital platforms
Knowledge of Canva, InDesign or Illustrator is useful but not essential.
This is a part-time role, 3-4 days per week, with hybrid working and occasional evenings for launches, private views and client events.
Please send your CV and a short cover note telling us about yourself, your relevant experience and why you’d like to work with us. Deadline 5pm 5 October. Salary from £20K based on experience.
Some experience in PR, communications, journalism, media or the cultural sector
Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
A strong instinct for news, storytelling and relevant media opportunities
Genuine interest in visual arts, culture and the wider creative sector
Confidence, initiative and the ability to generate ideas independently
Strong research, organisational and administrative skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work accurately and meet deadlines
Comfortable communicating with clients, journalists, artists and partners
Familiarity with social media and digital platforms
Knowledge of Canva, InDesign or Illustrator is useful but not essential
Willingness to attend occasional evening launches, private views and events
