Job Description
The Lecturer & Research Fellow joins as a key member of the academic team at Shakespeare’s Globe. The role will teach on our flagship higher education courses as well as a range of other programmes. They will take a significant role in research projects at Shakespeare’s Globe, and share responsibility for the provision of research dramaturgy for Globe and Sam Wanamaker Playhouse productions. The L&RF supports the Globe’s mission to promote anti-racist approaches to Shakespeare, and coordinates research events such as symposia, Study Days, Research in Action, Globe Talks and In Conversations. They provide and quality-assure content on Shakespeare, performance and theatre history for Visitor and Audience Operations colleagues (such as guided tours and the exhibition) and those in Marketing and Communications & PR, and supervise the activities of Research Assistants as needed.
Job Requirements
The skills:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field (early modern literature or history; theatre studies; performance).
- Expertise in Shakespeare and/or Performance.
- Experience in university-level teaching.
- Experience in the coordination of research, and publication experience.
- Demonstrable experience working with and adapting approach for a wide range of audiences.
- Experience coordinating and working events.
- Strong communicator and problem solver.
- Understands and always embodies the Globe’s mission and values.
