About the role

The Bartlett School of Architecture is seeking to appoint part-time Lecturer (Teaching) positions on the MArch Architectural Design (AD) programme on 0.21 FTE (Theory Module Tutor). We are looking for experienced tutors with a proven teaching record ideally at the post-graduate level and world class design research. The key duties and responsibilities for this role will be to deliver high quality teaching of novel history & theory exploring the frontiers of architecture and design, with an emphasis on the history & theorisation of the latest technological advances, particularly cutting-edge design computation, AI, and robotics. This includes contributing to the coordination of the designated history & theory modules, developing a history & theory agenda for a Research Cluster (RC) and delivering relevant teaching material and classes, including formulating and delivering lectures, seminars, tutorials and participating in regular discussions with students. Additiona lly, the role includes participating in programme wide history & theory cross-unit reviews, marking and moderation of coursework, examination boards, assessment panels, midterm and final design reviews and training. Lastly, the candidate will be expected to act responsibly to comply with UCL rules and guidelines regarding all interactions with all UCL staff and students.

About you

The successful candidate will co-organize the history & theory agenda of a Research Cluster (RC) and teach the history & theory modules at the highest level. They should provide proof of their experience working in an academic environment with a relevant track record of high-quality teaching ideally at the MArch / postgraduate level with high-quality student outputs. Additionally, they should have experience in architectural history & theory research with an awareness of current trends within the profession and basic understanding of social and environmental justice and sustainable design principles. The candidate should show experience in history & theory exploring the frontiers of architecture and design through the history & theorisation of state of the art technological advances. Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate research expertise in at least one of the following areas: design computation, AI, and robotics, relevant to the course taught, inclu ding evidence of leading seminars on these topics.
