Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Librarian I/II, Learning & Research Support / English Language & Literature at its Detroit campus location.

Wayne State University seeks an innovative, energetic, initiative-taking, and digitally focused library professional to serve in a two-year contract appointment as a Learning and Research Support / English Language and Literature Librarian with a focus on the management of library instruction resources. This position works in the team-based Learning and Research Support area, under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Libraries and Archives. This position will provide learning and research support services, including reference, instruction, and research and scholarly communications support. This position will also participate in library teams and projects related to library instruction and learning.
As the English Language and Literature Subject Specialist / Liaison Librarian, this position will coordinate Basic Composition information literacy asynchronous instruction module and related instructor guide in Canvas; collaborate with English Composition Committee regarding updates and instructor training, including coordinating and providing face-to-face instruction in GTA taught sections of Basic Composition in Fall and Winter semesters (8-12 sections) and providing face-to-face and online synchronous instruction as requested for English courses (approx. 10 annually); maintain English and Film Studies LibGuide; respond to English faculty and student inquiries regarding course materials, research support, etc.; develop collections in the areas of English language and literature; create permalinks to library resources at faculty request that will allow them to be incorporated into Canvas; and maintain Children’s Literature guide and coordinate purchase of Dolores Silverstein and Millicent Wills gift funds for juvenile literature.
As the Instruction Resources Librarian, this position will provide instruction to other departments, schools, and colleges when needed; coordinate, update, and maintain the shared instruction resources, providing use reports as requested, including managing the instruction video bank (YouTube) on an ongoing basis, managing the shared Canvas modules in the Canvas Commons on a semester-by-semester basis, and managing the shared handout inventory on a semester-by-semester basis; serve as the contact person for the library’s computer lab, including maintaining paper and supply inventory in the lab; and serve as liaison librarian to the Office for Teaching and Learning.
Additional Duties include staffing chat reference a minimum of 3 hours weekly; overseeing a selection of LibGuides and work with GSAs on annual review and updates (the specific guides include the Streaming Media Guide, the Citation Styles guides, the Microsoft Office guide, the Using the Library guide, the Library Support for Faculty Guide, and the Permalinks Guide); actively engaging in work to advance excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion; and other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in library and information science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited library school.

Experience in SpringShare apps, including LibGuides, LibWizard, and LibAnswers;
Experience using Camtasia and PowToon;
Basic experience using GOBI;
Evidence of innovation in delivering library services;
Salary and rank: This position is a Renewal Contract Appointment. The maximum starting salary for a Librarian I is $60,000 and for a Librarian II is $63,800. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
