Lingua Pittsburgh Instructor: Methodology for Teaching ELLs

Salary

$2,000/semester, payable upon successful completion of instructing the course.

Qualifications

• Current PPS employee
• Must possess a valid PA ESL Program Specialist certification
• Must possess at least 2 years of experience providing ESL instruction to English Language Learners within a PPS school setting; experience teaching a variety of grade levels preferred
• Experience teaching adult learners preferred
• Willingness to work after school.

Essential Job Functions

1. Instruct current PPS teachers according to syllabus based on PDE guidelines and developed by district’s ESL program.

2. Providing feedback to adult learners in the Lingua Pittsburgh cohort, including but not exclusive to grading assignments.

3. Tracking attendance of Lingua Pittsburgh participants

4. Ensuring timely and meaningful communications with cohort participants as well as ESL department.

5. Providing reports to ESL department related to program participant progress.

Additional Job Information

Classes will likely be virtual throughout the spring; specific dates, times, and locations are being determined.
