This position is located in our Deerfield, IL corporate offices and offers a hybrid work schedule, with 2-3 days in office and the remainder in your home office.

Manager, Communications – Pharmaceuticals Position Overview.

We’re excited to add an experienced communicator to our team to help build Baxter’s reputation among key partners. You will work alongside our Global Communications team and the Pharmaceuticals business segment to tell our story in new, innovative ways through traditional and social media and owned channels, with the autonomy to implement your ideas from start to finish. You’ll be responsible for product and therapy promotion, corporate messaging, internal communications and broader, proactive initiatives.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support external and internal communications for the Pharmaceuticals business segment, including promoting product innovations (launches, regulatory milestones, etc.), medical congresses, awareness initiatives and content that speaks to relevant healthcare trends.
  • Create key messages, Q&As and media statements, among other materials, on a wide range of topics and issues, including research, drafting and editing.
  • Develop strong relationships with Pharmaceuticals and corporate leaders to help implement communications initiatives.
  • Assist with media relations, including pitching and securing media placements, developing press releases to promote key achievements and events, and crafting key messages and other materials to support our response to inquiries from journalists.
  • Support external and internal communications for key corporate reputation areas, including Corporate Responsibility, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) and Global Community Relations.
  • Work with our Global Communications team to develop dynamic content for Baxter’s social media channels and websites, in alignment with our overall content strategy. Act as a conduit between our digital team and the business teams to ensure that content we develop is aligned with our business strategy.
  • Develop internal communications materials, including content for town halls and emails, to help drive engagement and keep employees informed.
  • Develop integrated messages for internal and external audiences aligned to corporate, brand, product and therapy messaging. Understand Baxter’s brand guidelines and support internal partner education and alignment.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required in English, marketing, journalism, public relations, advertising, or transferrable area. Minimum 5 years demonstrated ability in corporate communications or public relations. Pharma, med tech or healthcare industry and agency experience desired.
  • Proven experience working with marketing teams and other partners to create effective messages that actively engage.
  • Experience handling product-related issues, especially in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong and versatile writing skills for a variety of content types, channels and topics. Experience writing for the web and social media.
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate internally nd develop strong relationships to ensure success.
  • Highly motivated, with ability to make decisions independently.
  • Flexible and agile, with the ability to quickly change course when need arises.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $80,000 to $180,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
