We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. This is an outstanding opportunity for an education leader with experience working with Multilingual Learners in an urban setting. The Manager of Multilingual Learner Instruction will work closely with the District Administrative teams to support the transformation of public education in Providence. The Manager of Multilingual Learner Instruction will be primarily responsible for supporting the implementation of quality MLL services that will result in positive academic achievement for all Multilingual Learners. The Manager of Multilingual Learner Instruction will provide direct support to schools to ensure each complies with federal and state laws, regulations and policies pertaining to MLLs.
Successful candidates must demonstrate a deep belief in the capacity of ALL students to achieve at high levels and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of partners and stakeholders to drive transformative change within and outside of an organization. To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in Multilingual Learner pedagogy and research based practice, you must have extensive experience working with the following MLL subgroups: Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education, Dually Identified students, Long Term MLLs, you must have proven experience using coaching as a tool to drive high and equitable educational outcomes, you must exhibit strong leadership, be a master communicator, and have a track record of successfully collaborating with a large number of adults. Successful candidates must also possess a high level of comfort with ambiguity and the willingness to seek new solutions to old problems.
