JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Outreach is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist to assist in carrying out WPSU ‘s strategic marketing, communication, and awareness goals to reach a diverse audience across many program areas. Utilizing a wide array of print and digital media, this position will work closely with the Marketing Director to execute a cohesive marketing plan to promote the station’s local and national PBS programming, station events, educational resources, community engagement and outreach, and fundraising events. This position is critical to maintaining and growing our engagement with members of WPSU and the Penn State University community, as well as with the families, educators and business leaders in the 24 counties we serve.

This position will manage our digital marketing communications to create weekly and monthly newsletters, assist with brand strategy and marketing plans, manage the photo library and help prepare impact reports. This role will also produce print marketing collateral, including fliers, advertisements, posters, campaign sheets and a monthly Program Guide. This position may support station activities and events and will participate in scope of work meetings.

Education and Experience:

The candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to build and sustain relationships across departments, campuses and throughout the community. A strong commitment to diversity, ethical decision making and a respect for others is expected.

This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An understanding and appreciation of public media marketing is preferred.

This position will require successful completion of standard background checks.
