Purpose:
As our Medical Director, under the supervision of the VP, Medical/Chief Medical Officer, you will provide the necessary vision and leadership to ensure the medical standard of care, implementing Mental Health Partners’ (MHP) strategic goals as outlined by executive team, organizational values, evidence-based practice approaches, and procedures, and other activities to support safe and appropriate psychiatric care throughout the organization.
Job Summary:
You will provide medical leadership and oversight through management of medical staff, management of medical staff procedures, collaborative work throughout the organization and with external partners to facilitate integrated mental health and substance use disorder care. You will also carry a caseload of clients.
You Will:
- Provide evidence-based medical recommendations and guidance for diverse needs across both general outpatient and acute care programs.
- Oversee the delivery of psychiatric care.
- Lead medical integration across all teams at the agency.
- Manage change through our strategic and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) lenses.
- In collaboration with healthcare leadership, ensure services meet the standard of care and are congruent with MHP’s emphasis on high-quality customer service and clinical outcomes.
- Ensure the needs of clients are met across the continuum of care and that appropriate procedures are in place and applied to support continuity of care, cultural competence, high quality outcomes, and efficient use of resources based on a recovery model.
- Emphasize quality, recovery orientation, evidence-based practice approaches and cultural competency to move strategy forward across all programs and locations.
- Lead client safety projects to bring the agency to medical standards, address critical incidents and treatment case reviews, and leads efforts to reform systems to improve client safety and outcomes.
- Monitor operational goals and performance indicators for team performance.
- Provide psychiatric diagnostic and medication evaluations for clients and their families, and education to workforce members and partners.
- Prepare documentation for certifications and court-ordered medications.
- Attend court to support requests for short-term and long-term certification of clients for involuntary treatment.
- Complete clinical documentation according to MHP policies.
- Computer use required for communication and task tracking.
- Comply with HIPAA and other Federal or State Data Privacy laws related to the handling of organizational data.
As a Director, you will:
- Provide leadership, training, and ongoing guidance to staff.
- Hire, develop a diverse group of staff who have different abilities and competencies to provide service to customers.
- Lead regular and frequent staff meetings to promote teamwork, sustain an aligned and energized work force, promote communication, and provide team direction.
- Give frequent, specific, honest, candid, and immediate feedback, positive and constructive, to team members at all levels.
- Engage staff in the decision-making process and provide context about how or why decisions are made.
- Ensure staff are trained adequately to perform responsibilities.
- Provide guidance and hold staff accountable for compliance to MHP performance expectations.
- Establish and clarify expectations, provides ongoing feedback, and administer the catalytic coaching process with staff.
- Manage the supervision of staff on a routine and frequent basis, specifically through the lens of a recovery orientation, to ensure and efficient services and, accurate documentation.

$247,470 – $274,949 AnnualizedWhat we need for this job:
- M.D. or D.O. degree (or international equivalent) with ACGME accredited residency training program in general psychiatry or in child and adolescent psychiatry.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Colorado.
- Board certified in Psychiatry.
- DEA certification required.
- Five (5+) years’ experience providing direct service to a diverse population of consumers, with at least two years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
