Rate of Pay: $208,832.00 – $270,000.00 per year

Duties: Perform primary anesthesia care of small animals. Supervision of anesthesia and training technicians to advance team skills. Provide remote anesthesia care to affiliate practices. Providing consultations and CE to referring veterinarians. Collaborating with SAGE specialists on acute and chronic pain management planning. Lead the medical quality at facility and collaborate on business operations with Hospital Leaders. Nurture medical innovation through advancement of care, doctor development, and foster an environment aligned with SAGE’s overall mission, values, and goals. Develop, implement, and reinforce best practices involving workflow or medical protocols. Strategize and promote increased use of newly purchased medical equipment, and specialized training. Advising doctors on improving procedures, promoting medical procedures, improving identification of cases warranting specialized procedures. Mentor new doctors for the first 6 months. Ensure inter-office collaboration and facilitate patient care and collaboration. Collaborate with the hospital leaders, CMO and People & Culture Department to resolve clinical or doctor personnel issues. Write and deliver ongoing and annual performance feedback. Participate in career development planning for all doctors. Ensure doctors are meeting or exceeding job expectations. Participate in recruiting efforts. Oversee new hire onboarding. Review doctor production reports and understand output. Strategize caseload and revenue growth for facility. Execute staffing and cost control measures within the facility. Review P&L reports with hospital leaders. Visit pDVMs to market hospital and services.

Requirements: Must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a veterinary medicine occupation. Experience must include:

1. Organizing and implementing best practices involving workflow or medical protocols across multiple departments and staffing levels;

2. Understanding of key functional business operations (Finance, People & Culture, Marketing and Operations) and how they are applied in a clinical veterinary medicine environment; and

3. Performing primary anesthesia care in challenging small animal cases.

Licenses: DVM eligible for licensure in California, DACVAA or residency trained and board-eligible.
