Position Summary

The Medical Director at MIORA Performance + Longevity plays a critical role in overseeing the clinical team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and optimal health outcomes. This role is centered on providing direct oversight to medical providers, guiding them in their clinical decision-making, patient interactions, and care delivery. The Medical Director ensures that all patient care is delivered in accordance with evidence-based protocols and fosters continuous professional development within the provider team. Through regular shadowing, auditing of patient notes, and leading clinical discussions, the Medical Director works to enhance patient outcomes and maintain consistent, high-quality care. Additionally, this role focuses on integrating medical services to provide a seamless and patient-centered experience, ensuring that all clinical efforts are aligned with achieving the best possible health results for patients.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight & Leadership:

  • Provide oversight and direction to all clinical operations, ensuring the highest standards of care, patient safety, and medical ethics.
  • Oversee medical providers, including Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), offering guidance, support, and mentorship in patient care and clinical decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based medical practices, protocols, and regulatory requirements across all service areas.

Medical Provider Coordination & Training:

  • Work closely with medical providers to ensure seamless coordination of patient care and services.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure continuous professional development for NPs, PAs, and other healthcare providers.
  • Lead team meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Shadow providers during consultations to ensure consistency in the patient experience and adherence to best practices.
  • Audit patient notes and medical recommendations to ensure accuracy and adherence to clinical guidelines.

Patient Care & Consultation:

  • Conduct periodic direct patient consultations, particularly for complex cases, to ensure patients receive optimal care and attention.
  • Oversee patient care quality, including reviewing and approving treatment plans and addressing escalated patient concerns.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing healthcare practices, including maintaining accreditation and adherence to licensing requirements.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to monitor and improve patient care outcomes, including overseeing clinical audits and peer reviews.
  • Maintain all necessary certifications and training requirements for medical providers.

Customer Service & Patient Experience:

  • Ensure a patient-centric approach in all clinical operations, ensuring patients feel supported, informed, and valued.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team to streamline the patient journey from consultation through treatment, maximizing patient satisfaction.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor healthcare providers.
  • Excellent clinical decision-making skills, with a commitment to evidence-based care.
  • Strong understanding of integrated healthcare principles, wellness programs, and patient education.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and improve operational efficiency.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff, patients, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare software, including electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of healthcare operations and financial management.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified in a relevant specialty (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine, or integrative medicine).
  • Current and valid medical licensure in the relevant state.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience, with 2-3 years in a leadership or medical director role.
  • Experience in integrated healthcare or wellness practices preferred.
