Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Programme Lead, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will undertake tasks related to programme monitoring and evaluation. The incumbent will be expected to:

MEAL Planning and Support:

  • Follow the MEAL Framework and support MEAL development and implementation. 
  • Provide inputs into the development and refinement of MEAL tools, guidelines, and processes – including designing, pilot testing, and finalizing, in coordination with the M&E Specialist.
  • Contribute to reviewing project MEAL frameworks and other key M&E deliverables including reports to ensure compliance with CPD MEAL standards
  • Assist project planning processes related to MEAL work plan and budget.
  • Take minutes, manage records and documentation, and ensure accurate and organized documentation management
  • Support the MEAL team during workshops, trainings and other learning events
  • Support various external and internal assessments, evaluations, and data requests

Data Analysis, Management, and Aggregation:

  • Compile, aggregate and ensure quality of project results data to measure programme level progress and achievements, including KPIs for existing and new projects
  • Ensure proper maintenance and organization of results data and records to facilitate easy access and timely reporting and response to ad hoc requests
  • Support analysis of project and programme data, for example by collating data, coding qualitative data, preparing summaries, etc. 
  • Prepare relevant data required for reporting and aggregating into UN-wide monitoring frameworks under the supervision of the M&E Specialist.

Report Preparation and Documentation:

  • Assist in preparing a range of reports, including progress reports, monitoring reports, and other required documentation 
  • Support the drafting of materials for internal and external stakeholders, including donors and implementing partners, ensuring clear and creative presentation of facts and figures

 Education/Experience/Language requirements:

Education :

  • A Master’s degree preferably in international development, law, human rights, statistics, peace studies, sociology or a related field from an accredited academic institution is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in the above fields with an additional two (2) years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.               

 Work Experience :

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant MEAL experience working with humanitarian assistance, development, conflict management or peace building programmes is required.
  • Experience in implementing monitoring and evaluation processes for  humanitarian, development, or peace programmes is required. 
  • Familiarity with database management is required. 
  • Demonstrated experience in producing writing and analytical skills are required.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (e.g. MS Office newer versions, Google Suite Applications) is required.
  • Previous experience with electronic data capture, including KOBO Collect, is a distinct advantage.
  • Programme implementation or monitoring experience in conflict-affected areas will be an asset.
  • Experience working with the UN, NGOs, or civil society organisations is highly desirable. 

Language Requirements: 

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English  is required. 
  • Knowledge of an additional UN language is desirable.
