We are looking for an MSAT Pharma DS Process Engineer with technical process expertise to join our MSAT Pharma (Manufacturing Sciences and Technology), based at our UCB campus in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium.
About the role
As a DS Process Engineer, you will collaborate with CMC Development to oversee the operational activities that facilitate technology transfer to the intended commercial site. This includes scaling up to commercial production, validating UCB’s Pharma Drug Substance, and focusing on yield, throughput, and cost of goods improvements in compliance with evolving regulatory standards. You will leverage your process expertise to drive continuous improvement, manage second-line troubleshooting, and lead technology transfers between commercial manufacturing sites.
Who You Will Work With
- You will work within a dynamic team of professionals in the Pharma MSAT team (Manufacturing Sciences & Technology).
- You will work closely with various stakeholders from CMC development, Internal & External Manufacturing, Engineering and QA.
What You Will Do
- Manage as project manager the technology transfers from Development to Commercial manufacturing site.
- Lead the technology transfers between Commercial manufacturing sites.
- Be the process owner of the commercial products and identify process improvements leading to improved quality, cycle times and reduced cost of goods.
- Lead complex process-related investigations (second line troubleshooting).
- Support Continuous Process Verification (CPV) activities and drive Transversal CPV across commercial manufacturing sites.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, reduce cycle times, and lower costs.
- Create and manage technology transfer teams, ensuring alignment and coordination among all disciplines and affiliates.
- Oversee operational activities, projects, budgets, risks, and implement mitigation plans. Escalate potential risks and issues to the MSAT Pharma Process Lead.
- Provide technical and industrial expertise in pharma drug substance manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements.
Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
- Experience acting as a key contributor in a very complex environment.
- Technical and industrial expertise of pharma drug substance.
- Expertise in technology transfer management.
- Financial understanding of impact of Opex, Capex, COGS drivers.
- Fluent in English (written & spoken).
