Primary Purpose:

The Multilingual ESL Coordinator ensures that Emergent Bilinguals receive an excellent education, one that harnesses the assets of their bilingualism and is aligned with Uplift’s IB vision for excellence. The Coordinator is responsible for leading the ESL instructional initiatives in schools, partnering with campus leadership teams to develop instructional staff, and coaching instructional strategies that facilitate differentiation for Emergent Bilinguals. This will specifically include coaching an assigned group of teachers with one-on-one observations and debriefs on how to improve EB support through instructional techniques, lesson planning, and curriculum alignment. Additionally, the Coordinator will collaborate with the campus administration to provide school-wide professional development and Tier I ESL classroom initiative implementation. To this end, the Coordinator will collaborate with the campus leadership team, network staff, and outside personnel to formulate, develop and evaluate instruction for Emergent Bilinguals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage Bilingual/ESL Programs

• Drive the academic vision for Tier I ESL instruction for all Emergent Bilinguals
• Collaborate with the campus administration to select targeted teachers to observe, debrief, and provide feedback to drive EB instructional supports
• Provide campus and PLC, and/or grade level professional development that is in alignment with the Tier I framework
• Partner with academic directors and deans to support teachers’ use of language objectives to drive social and academic language proficiency across the campus
• Ensure that instructional programming and curriculum services exist in the Bilingual/ESL programs to meet students’ needs as stated in Texas Education Code
• Present scholar outcome data to academic directors and ML team leadership at least quarterly; evaluate and suggest instructional materials to better meet scholar needs
• Monitor research and data; suggest and support development of innovative program initiatives to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching/learning process
• Collaborate with MCC to ensure a streamlined ML program across campuses

Documentation and Law

• Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy; keep abreast of current and impending legislation and recommend instructional changes as needed
• Monitor and communicate all Bilingual/ESL Title III-related legislation, projects, and programs for grant, entitlement, and allocation opportunities relevant to the needs of the district; manage parent, family, and community engagement as defined by Title III
• Support the Multilingual Program with identification procedures for all Emergent Bilinguals, as needed
• Support the Multilingual Program with end-of-year testing for Emergent Bilinguals that may reclassify and/or require progress monitoring, as needed
• Serve as an LPAC representative in special education ARD committee meetings, as needed
• Finance and Inventory Work with ML team leadership to document all requests for projects and programs requiring Bilingual/ESL, Title III, and Pre-K funding
• Make recommendations to the academic director and operations director on additional resources to support Emergent Bilinguals
• Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./ B.S.) from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree in related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience Requirements: Minimum three years of successful teaching experience required. Minimum two years of adult leadership preferred. Must enjoy working with Emergent Bilinguals and their families.
• Special Skills/Certifications: Must have a valid Texas Teacher Certification with endorsement in Bilingual and/or ESL education.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Communication Skills: Mastery of both oral and written English with the ability to write general correspondence. Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual Skills: Preferred
• Technology: Ability and/or willingness to learn new technology systems that are imperative to the ELP team.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Work Environment:

Office out of a school site, though role requires frequent visits to select campuses across the DFW metroplex. Employee must retain reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Starting Salary: $70,000
