The (Very Important) Fine Print
- Qualifications/Certification.
- All teachers must hold a Bachelor’s degree upon employment.
- Teachers in our schools must meet certification requirements by employment commencement. This can be achieved in a few ways:
- Possession of a valid Tennessee teaching license with the required content endorsements – ESL/ELL.
- Holding a valid teaching license transferable from another state with reciprocity to TN.
- Enrollment in a state-accredited Alternative Certification Program by the first day of employment and having successfully passed the content related praxis exam within the last 5 years.
- Prior Experience.
- Highly preferred: Previous experience teaching ESL, working in low-income communities, and a demonstrated ability to elevate the academic performance of underserved scholars.
- Essential: A strong commitment to addressing historical inequities based on race and class in the American South.
- Placement. ESL Teachers will teach and support students in need of ESL services at Nashville Prep, Liberty Collegiate Academy, or RePublic High School.
