The National Director, Healthcare & Professionals Business Banking provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for Healthcare and Professionals sales force in Canada ensuring business development strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provide strategic leadership to Healthcare and Professionals sales and support team and create a competitive advantage by:
  • growing profitable market share, while optimizing the rate of return on investment
  • balancing strategic and analytical attributes with marketing and management skills required
  • having thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Healthcare and Professionals market
  • identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, relationships, and partnerships
  • acquiring and providing customer and employee feedback on Commercial and Business Banking product, services, and processes.
  • Define distribution strategies and support development of the Healthcare and Professionals Business Banking sales force by:
  • ensuring team and stakeholders have defined roles and expectations and are collaborating effectively to achieve business goals;
  • championing the essential importance of customer satisfaction and loyalty in achieving business results
  • developing and sustaining disciplined sales and service management standards within team (including with the franchise segment)
  • integrating sales and sales management activities with technology to optimize coaching and sales disciplines
  • leading the development of reporting to assist with sales management and coaching
  • executing against the business cases for growth of the lawyer and accountant segments
  • expanding collaboration with partners in Wealth (MD Management, Private Banking and ScotiaMcLeod) and Commercial Banking
  • Guide and support product, policy and process enhancements by:
  • collaborating directly with Retail, Commercial and Executive office partners to grow the Healthcare and Professional Banking network, with the necessary internal communication, training, promotional tactics and materials, selling techniques, and lending practices to ensure business and customer goals are achieved
  • looking for opportunities to improve productivity, through continuous improvement to work processes

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree (business focus preferred)
  • MBA or equivalent post-secondary experience preferred
  • 5-10 years of management experience ideally in business, sales and/or franchising capacity
  • Expert knowledge of sales management techniques
  • Expert Business and Commercial Banking products / services knowledge with specific functional knowledge of the Healthcare and Professionals customer segment
  • Expert knowledge of commercial and business banking credit risk policies and procedures, financial analysis techniques, and the Bank’s credit adjudication processes
