Nurse Manager-Patient Care Unit E4 (Registered Nurse V) – (2400084U)
The Department of Public Health’s Tewksbury Hospital is currently hiring for the position of Nurse Manager – Patient Care Unit E4 (Registered Nurse V). The hospital provides a broad treatment of care and comfort to adults with medical and/or mental illnesses. The Nurse Manager is a leadership role which encompasses patient care, personnel, and unit management.
The Nurse Manager ensures competent, person-centered nursing care for patients within a performance improvement and quality assurance framework. Directs, guides, and evaluates his/her unit(s) nursing personnel; maintains effective working relationships with multidisciplinary personnel on the unit and delegates his/her authority to ensure effective and efficient unit operations. Coordinates care with the assigned evening and/or night supervisors, communicating issues involving unit and staff for that shift. Ensures 24-hour accountability regarding patient care, personnel, and unit management/operations.
Please Note: This position works 40 hours per week on the Day Shift. Normal hours are 6:45am to 3:15pm.
Employees in this position will be required to work mandatory overtime.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic or medical facility and (B) of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.* No substitutions will be allowed for the required (B) experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL LEVELS IN SERIES: Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing .*
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s license may be required.
