Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Geriatric Medicine – Henry Ford Health System

• Flexible, team player, willingness to learn.
• Experience working with Geriatric patient population.
• Open to both Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
• Typical schedule, Monday – Friday. APPs do not cover weekends.
• Experience in Long-Term care setting/acute setting.
• APP will be assigned to Nursing Homes.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment programs. Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other medical care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master’s degree in nursing. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Certified Nurse Practitioner. Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS or ACLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.

• NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
• PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
• NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
• PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
• National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
