About the Opportunity
The Department of Communication Studies in the College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) of Northeastern University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Teaching Professor (open rank) position in Global Media. Candidates will have expertise across regions, with expertise in at least one non-English speaking region, ideally outside the Global North. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the analysis and creation of media and media technologies with a theoretical focus on at least one of the following areas: representation, identity and industry. We encourage applicants with an interdisciplinary perspective that connects to other CAMD degrees in the creative arts and media industry, for example content creation in the technology industry.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses at the undergraduate and the graduate level. Teaching will be 3 courses per semester (6 in total) with the opportunity to teach in the summer (May-August) for extra compensation.
The position involves teaching existing courses in global media and media studies, with the opportunity to also teach courses in related programs and departments in the College of Arts, Media and Design, such as in Music, Journalism or Art + Design. The position offers opportunities towards curriculum development and collaboration with research faculty.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Communication Studies or Media Studies (or a related field) and teaching experience at the college level.
