As an engineering intern, you will play a key role in developing quantitative metrics and models to characterize the optical and visual performance of our next-generation MR Optical System. Your work will focus on creating innovative approaches to convey more immersive and better visual experiences to users. Our internships are Twelve (12) to Sixteen (16) weeks long.Optical Engineering Intern (Masters/PhD) ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement quantitative metrics and models to evaluate the optical and visual performance of MR displaysCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test new display technologiesAnalyze data and provide insights to inform design decisionsContribute to the development of innovative solutions for MR display technologyMinimum QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Color Science, Imaging Science, Optical Engineering, or a related field.Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.Strong understanding of optics/photonics/vision science/display technologyExperience with computer vision programing and applicationsExperience with programming languages such as Python/MATLAB/C/C++Preferred QualificationsIntent to return to a degree-program after the completion of the internship.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentExperience with CV or ML based detection algorithms.Experience working with displays or head-mounted displays, or other hardware to study the visual system.For those who live in or expect to work from California if hired for this position, please click for additional information.LocationsAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
