Applications are invited for two (2) full-time positions in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The successful candidates will be appointed to Limited Term academic appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Schulich School of Dentistry. The successful candidate will be appointed for a term of up to 5 years. The successful candidate may have a 50% reduced workload to allow the successful candidate to perform 50% clinical service at London Health Sciences Centre and/or St. Joseph’s Health Care London, subject to the approval(s) of the appointments by the hospitals. Depending on qualifications, including a sufficiently strong track record in research, teaching and/or administration will be considered for an appointment at a higher rank. This position would be effective July 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is housed within the Schulich School of Dentistry and the Teaching Hospitals of Western University, which include Victoria and University Hospitals of the London Health Sciences Centre as well as St. Joseph’s Health Care. Facilities include clinics in the hospitals, operating room access and a state of the art out-patient operating room facility within the School of Dentistry.

Candidates must possess a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent; have postgraduate specialist training in oral surgery; FRCD(C) certification (or eligibility) and fellowship training in an OMFS sub-specialty is preferred. The successful candidate will be eligible to apply for and maintain an active appointment with London Health Sciences Centre / St. Joseph’s Health Care, Department of Dentistry nearmejobs.eu LHSC and be eligible for full licensure within the Province of Ontario, subject to the approval(s) of the hospitals. Teaching and research experience required, and administration experience would be an asset.
The successful candidate will also have a commitment to and demonstrated aptitude for teaching and will be expected to teach both didactically and clinically and will serve as a course director. The incumbent will be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of undergraduate dental students, dental clinical fellows and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents assigned to the affiliated teaching hospitals. Effective administration as part of the Undergraduate Dentistry Program, the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Program and the Dental General Practice Residency Program will be a component of the position.

This position will be compensated by an academic salary for the academic component and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The compensation and benefits plan will be prorated in accordance with the Reduced Workload, as appropriate. Clinical service time is compensated through private billings and fee for service.
