Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The School of Nursing is now accepting applications for Clinical Instructor positions in the fall term of year 2023 which runs from September 5 – December 1, 2023.
WORK ASSIGNMENT: Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising a group of BScN students who provide direct client care in clinical settings, work in a clinical skills and simulation lab or tutorial group setting. Tasks include but are not limited to lab demonstrations, marking and proctoring term tests and final examinations as well as evaluating assignments.
FALL 2023:
N2710 (Population Health Nursing)
(Experience in Community / Public Health Nursing required)
COMMUNITY TEACHER/TUTORIAL INSTRUCTOR:
Not to exceed 110 hrs.
Bi-weekly tutorials: Thursdays a.m. plus full week Community Clinical (Nov. 20 – 24, 2023)
N2715 (Clinical Integration 1)
(Experience in Long term Care preferred)
SIMULATION LABS: Not to exceed 78 hrs (Tuesdays a.m. or p.m.)
LONGTERM CLINICAL:
Not to exceed 60 hrs (Nov. 27 – Dec. 1, 2023)
N2720 (Health and Healing I: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics)
(Background in Pathophysiology required)
TUTORIALS: Not to exceed 52 hrs, held bi-weekly (Fridays p.m.)
N2725 (Clinical Integration 2)
(Experience in Peds or Mat Nursing preferred)
SIMULATION LABS: Not to exceed 78 hrs (Wednesdays a.m. or p.m.)
Two-week CLINICAL:
Not to exceed 100 hrs (Nov. 20 – Dec. 1, 2023)
N2740 (Nursing and Family Health)
(Background in Family Nursing required)
TUTORIALS: Not to exceed 47 hrs, held bi-weekly (Thursdays p.m.)
N2750 (Health and Healing II: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics)
(Background in Pathophysiology required)
TUTORIALS: Not to exceed 52 hrs, held bi-weekly (Tuesdays p.m.)
N3725 (Clinical Integration 4)
(Experience in Med/Surg and/or Mental Health Nursing required)
SIMULATION LABS: Not to exceed 80 hrs
(Thursday labs a.m. or p.m. between Sept. 5 – 22 and Oct. 23 – Nov. 24)
CLINICAL: 3 weeks in Med/Surg placement
(Not to exceed 140 hrs)
Option A: Sept 25 – Oct. 13
Option B: Oct. 2 – 20
CLINICAL: 4 weeks in Med/Surg placement
(Not to exceed 180 hrs)
Option C: Sept. 25 – Oct. 20
CLINICAL: 1 week in MH placement
(Not to exceed 52 hrs)
Option D: Oct. 16 – 20
Option E: Sept 25 – 29
N3730 (Nursing in the Context of Persistent Illness)
(Background in MedSurg Nursing required)
TUTORIALS: Not to exceed 37 hrs (Wednesdays a.m. between Sept. 5 – 22 and Oct. 23 – Nov. 24)
N4715 (Exploratory Nursing Practice)
SIMULATION LABS: Estimated hours: 35 hrs (Fridays a.m. or p.m. between Sept. 8 and Oct. 13)
PRECEPTOR CLINICAL: Estimated hours: 72 hrs (Oct. 16 – Nov. 24)
Clinical Instructors will report to the instructor of record for their course and work under the protection of CUPE Collective Agreement 3912 – Dalhousie University. Document can be accessed via https://cupe.ca/local/cupe-3912-dalhousie-university .
Qualifications/Requirements of Position A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree as well as two years of recent clinical experience is required. Clinical teaching experience (which may include preceptorship of staff or students) is essential.
Access to a computer (no tablet/iPad/phone) with working internet to run Microsoft Teams for online meetings and instruction is required.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
