Job Description:

Instructor II is a part-time employee who is part of a labor pool that involves instructing various community members on business and industry topics, such as ESL in the Workplace, Leadership, and Business Management on a need basis. Responsibilities include creating and customizing course materials, developing methods to assess skill comprehension, and fostering an interactive learning environment that caters to adult learners. The role requires effective communication, adapting course materials as needed, and maintaining professional relationships with business leaders, employees, and staff. Additionally, the candidate must handle administrative tasks, participate in relevant discussions, and incorporate current subject matter expertise into their instruction.

Job Duties:

  • Provide instruction covering business and/or industry topics to business, industry, and community members. Topics may include, but are not limited to: English as a Second Language in the Workplace, Leadership and Supervision, Business Management and Information
  • Create course outlines and class materials or presentations, with some customization as requested by the business.
  • Create a method for skill understanding of the course.
  • Cultivate an interactive learning environment that embraces adult learning styles.
  • Employ teaching strategies and technologies relevant to the industry.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills. .
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with business leaders and their employees, and staff.
  • Must be self-directed and motivated.
  • Adapt course material to meet the needs of the class if needed.
  • Participate in discussions and meetings with the business partner and Aims Community College coordinator, as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with a business contact and Aims Community College coordinator regarding training issues/and or challenges.
  • Submit accurate and timely paperwork, which may include: attendance records, time-sheets, mileage reports
  • Assist in developing and maintaining quality relationships with business, industry, and community members.
  • Incorporate current subject matter expertise into instruction.

Work Hours: 

  • Work hours based on an as-needed basis. No guarantee of weekly hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or relevant certification in area of expertise
  • Two years instruction in the area of expertise
  • Two years of industry experience
