Maximum credit hours Per Course faculty can teach 12 Credit Hours per 12 Month Period – Springfield Campus

Description of Primary Duties 

Per course faculty teach by way of one of the following:

1) face-to-face on the Springfield campus

2) face-to-face on a campus other than Springfield

3) online

4) in a blended format that may include ITV or online teaching.

Per course faculty are responsible for fulfilling all teaching expectations and must collect and provide data from courses to support program reviews. Per course faculty must communicate with students, faculty and administration associated with the course and program. Per course faculty represent MSU and its programs with professionalism and academic integrity.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications 

Per Course Faculty should possess a master’s degree or the equivalent professional experience in a field determined acceptable by the Dean.

In addition to general application requirements, specific qualifications are preferred or required depending on the program:

Additional Qualifications:

  • Business Education: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in business education or teaching experience in a business-related field is preferred.
  • Child and Family Development: A minimum of three years working with children and families in educational, social, or developmental settings is preferred.
  • Early Childhood Education: A minimum of three years of teaching experience and certification in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Elementary Education (BSEd): A minimum of three years of teaching experience in elementary education, with state certification, is preferred.
  • Family and Consumer Sciences: A minimum of three years of professional experience in family and consumer sciences or related fields is preferred.
  • Middle School Education: A minimum of three years of teaching experience in middle school education and certification in the subject area is preferred.
  • Child Life Studies: A minimum of three years of experience working in a child life program in a healthcare facility is required. Candidates must hold current certification as a Child Life Specialist or achieve certification by the appointment date.
  • Early Childhood and Family Development: A minimum of three years of professional experience working with children and families in educational or developmental settings is preferred.
  • Early Childhood Special Education: A minimum of three years of teaching experience in early childhood special education, along with certification in the field, is preferred.
  • Elementary Education (MSEd): A minimum of three years of teaching experience and relevant certification in elementary education is preferred.
  • Literacy: A minimum of three years of teaching experience in literacy education, along with relevant certification, is preferred.
