The Pitt Vaccination & Health Connection Hub provides direct patient care and customer service learning experiences for students from each of the schools of the Health Sciences including: Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Dental Medicine, Public Health, and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, as well as volunteer opportunities for pre-health and non-health science students, faculty and staff. The Pitt Vaccination & Health Connection Hub is seeking highly motivated pharmacists to join our team of faculty, pharmacist staff and student health professionals to provide patient care and support training of inter-professional health science students at the Hub, located at 4041 Fifth Ave on the Pittsburgh campus. This full-time pharmacist manager is responsible for the support, scheduling, and managing of the day-to-day operations at the Hub. They will lead and support daily operations providing vaccinations, point-of-care health screenings and support the clinical training of health science students. Pharmacists will work closely with University Pharmacy and an inter-professional team of faculty and staff leading community-based health care within the University. Pharmacists will support yearly mass vaccination efforts and connections to community-based patient care. 

Departmental duties:

Keeping up to-date on all clinical protocols and training.

Ability to draw vaccines and provide vaccines.

Knowledge of vaccine storage requirements.

Knowledge of how to respond to clinical emergencies.

Knowledge of error reporting process.

Effective didactic education abilities.

Ability to interact with a wide variety of levels and backgrounds of learners.

Ability to multi-task.

Ability to provide specific, targeted, supportive feedback in the moment while clinical care is occurring. 

Clearly communicates with Health Science faculty to develop plans for learning experiences.

Ability to manage scheduling for large numbers of learner and staff.

Understanding how to create a culture of safety for staff and learners. 

Effective communication with a range of stakeholders. 

High level of organization to manage complex schedules of multiple students and staff Use of a variety of clinical documentation and billing software programs.

Use Salesforce to pull reports on a range of topics (Ex. vaccines given, patient appointments).

Ability to work in cross-functional teams’ High level of organization to ensure successful events. Willingness to travel to off-site events Organizing and transporting clinic supplies to on- and off-campus vaccine clinic locations.

Job Summary

Provides medication management services to eligible University employees and students utilizing pharmacokinetic principles when appropriate and ensuring the proper drug is dispensed in a timely manner using proper techniques in drug preparation. Assists with training and daily supervision of pharmacy technicians and student interns. Audits and maintains accurate records, maintains adequate drug inventory, and ensures proper billing procedures are utilized. Participates in outreach and demonstrates a service orientation. Complies with all state, federal laws, and regulations.

Essential Functions Lifting and sorting supplies. 

Set up and take down of clinics. 

Using multiple computer systems including documentation and billing systems. 

Repeatedly drawing vaccines. 

Checking that students accurately document clinical information. 

Physical Effort Standing and walking through much of the work day. 

Set up and take down of off-site clinics. 

Needs to be able to lift and move supplies.
