Compensation:

Pay Range: $104,045.00 – $169,075.00/ year

Job Description:

To provide patient-focused pharmacy services including monitoring of therapy, interventions, basic pharmacokinetics, education and medication distribution. To support the mission, activities and programs of the division, department and the Hospital.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for coordinating oncology patients’ medication therapy, which includes reviewing the appropriateness of medications, educating patients starting new therapy, and updating physicians and clinic staff on new or changing therapy recommendations.
  • Collaborates closely with our patient care coordination team, infusion team, and retail pharmacies to ensure coordination and support for patient access and dispensing activities. Including assisting with prior authorizations, insurance appeals, copayment assistance, and patient assistance programs.
  • Actively monitors patient-specific response to prescribed therapies, reviewing potential adverse drug reactions and drug interactions to optimize therapy. Re-evaluates prescribed therapy and makes recommendations for changes when appropriate.
  • Accurately documents patient’s medication history profile and notifies the appropriate physician or healthcare professional of any issues regarding compliance or medication therapy regimens.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 and/or PGY2 oncology residency or equivalent (3 years of relevant experience).
  • Experience in an academic medical center.
  • Previous oncology pharmacy experience.
