PhD in Chemistry: Safe Removal and Recovery of the Heavier Group 15 Compounds (Bi, Sb, As): EPSRC IDLA PhD

The aim of the Industrial Doctoral Landscape Award (IDLA) PhD studentship, jointly sponsored by EPSRC and dstl will be to develop new synthetic routes for the safe removal and recovery of the heavier group 15 compounds (Bi, Sb, As). The recycling of such elements has become increasingly important to ensure the sustainability of these elements while also making sure that this is achieved in a way that protects and improves human health and the environment. As part of the project the student will have the opportunity to spend some time (up to 3 months) with the industrial sponsor. 

Academic criteria

Candidates should hold or expect to gain a first class degree or a good 2.1 and/or an appropriate Master’s level qualification (or their equivalent). 

We also welcome applications for both full and part-time study and from candidates with non-traditional academic backgrounds.

Interviews Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the interview date that is expected to take place at the end of March 2025.

As part of the interview process, the candidates who have been shortlisted will be required to deliver a brief presentation based on a recent research project, as well as a literature presentation on a paper related to the PhD topic.
