Please note that this application is to gain admission to our PGR programme, and an offer of admission may be issued before a decision on this Scholarship is made. Candidates applying for this Scholarship will most likely have an interview/discussion with the supervisor before any decision is made.

Semantic data collection and exchanges have been widely recognised as a promising paradigm for future information systems. Specifically, it can process data in the semantic domain by extracting the meanings of data and filtering out the useless, irrelevant, and unimportant semantic information, which further compresses data while reserving the meanings. In this project, we aim to explore how to further optimise a semantic information system to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of data exchanges. It will first exploit some open data source to establish knowledge base for transmitters and receivers so that they can minimise semantic ambiguity. Later, the novel encoding and decoding methods will be developed with respect to resource constraints. Finally, performance evaluation will be conducted under different scenarios for such a semantic information system. All the outcomes in this project will be published to international conferences/journals.
