Are you interested in why human societies are the way they are? Intrigued by the way that mathematics can explain biological systems?

We are seeking PhD students to study the evolutionary game theory underlying cooperation, particularly the use of reputations and applications of this such as the emergence of money.

The right people will have a lively interest in evolution and the mathematical/programming skills to build and test models.

The positions are based at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. They are supported by a stipend paying NZ$35,000 per annum (tax free) for three years, as well as covering PhD fees. Positions will start as soon after July 2025 as possible.
