PhD student (f/m/d) part time, 25,025 hours per week, for a period of 3 years Remuneration according to TV-L

The lab of Ralph Kehlenbach is seeking a motivated PhD-student. We are an international and diverse team of scientists working on the nucleocytoplasmic transport machinery and proteins of the inner nuclear membrane. This is a collaborative project, together with structural biologists in the US, where we will address a very specific nuclear import pathway.

We use a wide range of techniques, including super-resolution microscopy and advanced proteomics. Your tasks

• the project will address a specific and unusual nuclear import pathway
• you will use different assay systems to analyze nucleocytoplasmic transport
• you will perform fluorescence microscopy of fixed cells and living cells
• you will express proteins in bacteria for interaction studies
• you will collaborate with partners in the US who perform structural analyses on our proteins of interest

Your qualifications

• Master in life science (e.g.biochemistry, biology, molecular medicine)
• background in molecular biology techniques, protein biochemistry, microscopy and/or cell culture
• high intrinsic motivation
• english as work language
