Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team at Stanford Health Care. This role will focus on evaluating pediatric patients upon arrival at the Emergency Department (ED), conducting medical screening exams, and providing appropriate care for lower acuity cases. The clinician will manage these patients independently, performing procedures, placing orders, and ensuring timely follow-up until patient disposition from the lobby. For higher acuity cases, the clinician will work under the direct oversight of an attending physician. This position offers the opportunity for hands-on clinical experience with a wide variety of pediatric cases, ranging from minor injuries to more complex conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
o Perform triage assessments on all pediatric patients entering the ED.
o Conduct thorough medical screening exams to determine the acuity of each case.
o Independently manage lower acuity pediatric patients, providing treatment and disposition from the lobby.
o Collaborate with attending physicians for higher acuity cases.
o Place appropriate orders for diagnostics, labs, imaging, and medications.
o Perform minor procedures
o Monitor and document patient progress, ensuring all actions are timely and appropriate.
o Coordinate patient discharge or transfer, ensuring follow-up care is arranged as necessary.
o Provide detailed instructions for home care, medications, and any follow-up appointments.

A Brief Overview
The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the PA and his/her supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, the Credentials & Privileges Committee, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee and the SHC Board Credentials, Policies and Procedures Committee.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $86.41 – $114.50 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
