General Purpose of Job:
The Physician Recruiter will support the Director of Physician Recruitment in the sourcing and coordination of all the physician and APP recruitment efforts at Driscoll Health System. The Physician Recruiter will work to meet the physician development strategies and goals identified. The position will be responsible for clear and effective communication between the physician group, candidates, local physician groups, and administrative team. This is a high-volume, high visibility, recruiting environment dealing with a variety of unique specialties across South Texas.
The Physician Recruiter will be responsible for working with the Director of Physician Recruitment to ensure the Group achieves the Provider Recruitment goals. The Physician Recruiter will partner with the hiring leaders, moving the candidates through the process, and closing positions in a timely manner while maintaining strong relationships and excelling at candidate/customer management. The recruiter will lead the full-lifecycle searches to successfully identify, attract, and hire highly skilled physicians and advance practice providers to drive our growth and clinical care strategies.
Experience:
Required: 3 – 5 years of recruitment or related physician relations/operations, human resources or business development experience preferred. Strong organizational, and project management skills, detail-oriented, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software to build and maintain databases preferred. Must have comprehensive understanding of medical industry, physician market, and medical specialties. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong motivational and leadership skills, ability to work successfully within a matrix organization, excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, knowledge of full life-cycle recruiting process and recruiting strategy from sourcing to closing and signing candidates.
Education:
- Minimum bachelor’s Degree Required
Qualifications:
- Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and make decisions relating to assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization. Demonstrate a professional and adaptable demeanor with internal and external clients, including administrators, physicians, peers, and support staff.
- Ability to work after normal business hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
- Must exercise diplomacy, discretion, judgment, flexibility in varying situations and must maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to participate in out-of-town training and recruitment conferences/events.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Responsible for candidate cold calling, lead generation, pre-screening and appropriate follow-up for physician and APC candidates in designated specialties and service lines.
- Build and maintain relationships and a talent pipeline for current and future openings.
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitor hiring practices. Provide insights and recommendations to improve recruitment strategies.
- Conducts telephone screening interviews with physicians and APP candidates.
- In coordination with the Director of Physician Recruitment Director of Physician Recruitment, develop effective recruitment strategies/campaigns for recruitment of physicians in training and in practice in designated specialties including direct mail, advertising, residency programs, and state/national medical organization and specialty meetings.
- Maintains open and responsive communication between Recruitment Department, Hospital administration team, service line leadership, appropriate Practice personnel and candidates.
- Will attend physician’s and APP facility/community site visits to include tours of the community(s) and housing options, meetings with facility administration, key medical staff members and tours of the facility(s)
- Identifies and evaluates trends on healthcare recruitment, including location conditions, economic conditions, and competitive institutions to develop innovative strategic plans to respond to these trends.
- Work with corporate legal department to assure adherence to guidelines, rules and regulations
- Help to maintain a database of all candidate information to include curriculum vitae, contact information, internal referrals and follow-up information.

- Gather and analyze information about what the customers expect and need, trending and reporting on a regular basis to assist in decision making.
- Works with Director of Physician Recruitment to develop short and long term plans to improve service level of department efficiency for each area managed.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with new and existing providers; maintain on an on-going basis.
- Identify and cultivate potential community partners.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of physicians as required.
- Ability to work after normal business hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Additional Information:
This position requires travel in personal vehicle, but may also include, airplane, rental car, or company van. May require occasional overnight travel. This is not to be considered a work-at-home position.
