E3G is looking for a Policy Advisor to support its Clean Economy Team in its work on just industrial transition and the social dimension of industrial policy in Europe. This role is based in E3G’s Brussels office.
Background
E3G is an independent climate change think tank with a global outlook. We are world leading strategists on the political economy of climate change, dedicated to achieving a safe climate for all.
We work on the frontier of the climate landscape tackling the barriers and advancing the solutions to a safe climate. Our goal is to translate climate politics, economics and policies into action.
E3G is consistently ranked as one of the top ten most influential environmental think tanks in the world by the University of Pennsylvania’s Global Go To Think Tank Index.

The role will combine coalition building with political analysis and engagement. The successful candidate will work on the just transition aspects of E3G’s industrial decarbonisation and industrial policy work, develop and socialise the evidence and proof points that demonstrate how competitiveness hinges on a robust social and labour dimension and work closely with unions and civil society on narratives and policy asks for a socially fair industrial strategy in Europe.
The role will require experience working with civil society, government and industry stakeholders, and (ideally) a good understanding of industrial decarbonisation and/or just transition policy.
We are open to considering candidates with more senior profiles and can adjust the salary range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

- Monitor key policy debates and developments in Europe and internationally related to just transition, industrial policy and labour policy and interpreting them in the context of E3G’s work.
- Engage with and help to convene key stakeholder networks and supporting NGOs, businesses and unions, as well as managing relationships with these stakeholders.
- Produce internal and external communications materials and undertake short pieces of wider analysis.
- Inspire and facilitate action by the wider Clean Economy team on just transition policy, playing an active role in developing the team and supporting others.
- Travel may be required, but we are open to discussing this if this would otherwise become a barrier to your application.
