The researcher will work to integrate SNSPDs with novel readout schemes involving Josephson Junctions and Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) electronics. The goal of this work is to develop SNSPD imaging arrays for future applications in astronomy and microscopy. The position will be based at the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado, in the Quantum Nanophotonics and Faint Photonics groups led by Rich Mirin and Marty Stevens. Candidates will have access to the NIST – Boulder Microfabrication Facility, a state-of-the-art 18,000 square foot cleanroom dedicated primarily to superconductor micro- and nano-fabrication, and to extensive cryogenic, electrical, and optical testing equipment. U.S. citizenship is not required. Salary will be commensurate with experience. This position is part of CU/NIST PREP. NIST recognizes that its research staff may wish to collaborate with researchers at academic institutions on specific projects of mutual interest, thus requires that such institutions must be the recipient of a PREP award. The PREP program requires staff from a wide range of backgrounds to work on scientific research in many areas. Employees in this position will perform technical work that underpins the scientific research of the collaboration. The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment.
