Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Details

The Du Lab at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School is seeking a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow that exhibit excellent communication skills as well as both the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative group. Our multidisciplinary team explores the genetics and mechanisms behind neuroprotection and the formation of cerebral aneurysms. The successful applicant will utilize CRISPR-Cas9 based gene editing technologies to understand the genetic basis of cerebrovascular diseases such as intracranial aneurysms and stroke, and to identify potential interventions with a goal of developing new stroke and aneurysm treatment strategies. Prior lab experience with molecular biology techniques (CRISPR/Cas9) and animal handling is required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant subject (e.g. cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, etc.)
  • Molecular biology (PCR, cloning, genotyping, RNA and DNA isolation, flow cytometry, Western blots, etc.)
  • Genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9)
  • Animal handling (experimental procedures, cell preparation, etc.)
  • Tissue culture (cell lines and primary cells)
  • Demonstrate independent critical thinking and rigorous work.
  • Strong record of productivity and good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong personal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively Prior knowledge of cerebrovascular diseases not required.
