Working for the Department/Faculty

The successful candidate will work with the Principle Investigator Dr. Tariq Siddique at the department of Renewable Resources within the Faculty of Agricultural Life and Environmental Sciences.


The successful candidate will work on research project related to anaerobic pathways of hydrocarbon biodegradation using “omics” approaches. 


The research work includes:

  • conduct experiments with microbial cultures
  • perform chemical and molecular analyses of environmental samples
  • apply next-generation sequencing approaches to obtain ‘omics’ data

Minimum Qualifications

The applicant should have a PhD in Environmental Microbiology or Molecular Biology with experience in petroleum microbiology and metagenomics/ metatranscriptomics of hydrocarbon-degrading anaerobic microorganisms. High level of effective organizational, personal initiative skills, and experience in writing project proposals and research papers are required for this position.
