Position Overview

The Riddet Institute Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) headquarters invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship on Food Science and Nutrition. This position is to undertake research on the role of food structure on the release and uptake of nutrients and bioactive compounds in the digestive tract. Specifically, the research will involve in vitro dynamic digestion systems and advanced techniques to study interactions of food components during digestion, determining the molecular state of food materials in the small intestine and establishing absorption patterns using cell line models.

The successful candidate would have completed a PhD in Food Science and/or Technology, nutrition, Biochemistry or Food Engineering and will have a background in food materials, food structure design, and human digestion. The Postdoctoral Fellow will have effective communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work co-operatively within a team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an enthusiastic, supportive, and innovative team of multidisciplinary scientists.

The Riddet Institute is a world-best New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence in food and nutritional sciences, providing fundamental scientific understanding and training for a new generation of science leaders.  The Institute brings together scientists across disciplines and organisations, providing a “NZ Inc” approach to food science research, and it generates knowledge and capability that transforms the New Zealand food sector.

The salary will depend on experience but will be in the range of Postdoctoral Fellow, with appointment for a fixed term of two years.

Your application should include: (1) a copy of your CV, (2) a statement of your research interests and goals, (3) the names of at least two referees, (4) your university transcripts and (5) a covering letter that describes why you are the best candidate for the appointment.  Please upload your application to the Massey University vacancies.
