Postdoctoral Research Position – Molecular Biophysics
MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University
Cleveland, Ohio

The Center for Cancer Research at MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Biophysics. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to develop and apply advanced time-resolved fluorescence methods for studying protein-protein interactions and protein structure-function relationships in live cells.

This project will focus on elucidating the structure-function mechanisms of receptor tyrosine kinases and their role in cancer development, with collaboration across cell biology, biochemistry, and cancer biology disciplines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience in constructing custom fluorescence microscopy systems (e.g., FRET, FLIM, FCS, and anisotropy).
  • Solid understanding of time-resolved fluorescence techniques.
  • Experience with live cell culture and molecular biology is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with vendors to develop novel time-resolved fluorescence techniques, such as time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy and multi-color FCS.
  • Operate in-house time-resolved fluorescence microscopes to conduct live-cell imaging experiments.
  • Perform sample preparation using basic cell biology techniques (training provided).
  • Conduct biochemical analyses such as immunoblotting (training provided).
  • Design and optimize protocols for new biophysical assays to address complex cancer biology questions.– Example project: Science, 2023
  • Writing and submitting NIH training grants, including F32, K99/R00, or K22 mechanisms.

Application Instructions:

Please submit the following documents via email with the subject line “Job Application_2025” to [email protected]:

  • Curriculum vitae (including links to representative publications on PubMed)
  • Summary of your current research and key accomplishments
  • Names and contact information of three references

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourage early-career scientists to grow in a collaborative, innovative research environment.
