Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, LouisianaPosition Description: A multi-investigator team is seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to participate in a collaborative project examining seagrass resources, carbon stocks and seagrass restoration in Guam, and explore submerged aquatic vegetation dynamics within coastal estuaries in Louisiana. The position is based in Louisiana with travel to Guam, and other islands. Applicants should hold a graduate degree (PhD) in biology, chemistry, coastal ecology, oceanography or related field. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with state and federal agency work groups, field data collection including working in oceans and estuaries, as well as experience in the laboratory/greenhouse experiments, working with large datasets, exploring historical and spatial data, and analyzing data using advanced statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to assist, design, implement experiments and analyze data from Guam seagrass sampling, and develop studies to assess some aspect of seagrass communities in Guam (productivity, physiology, reproductive ecology, genetics, etc…), and/or with SAV communities within Louisiana. The position involves supporting and working with faculty, graduate students at LSU, and is highly collaborative with state, federal and non-governmental organization co-PIs on the Guam research. Travel to field sites locally, including overnight stays, and occasional weekend work will be required; travel to Guam and nearby islands expected with the larger researcher team.Qualification Requirements: Applicant must hold a PhD degree in biological sciences, natural resources management, marine science, or a related field. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following (1) experience working with submerged aquatic vegetation including field measurements and laboratory related work (2) experience working with large data sets and data analysis using R and GIS, (3) peer-review publications, and science communication, (4) the ability to work independently, create work plans, and meet deadlines.Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
