We have an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher with knowledge of blood-brain barrier (BBB) biology and its transport mechanisms to join the ARUK-ODDI. Reporting to the Assay Development and Screening Team Leader (Dr Emma Murphy), you will become an integral part of a project team working on developing novel tools to help potential therapeutics cross the BBB.

You will be responsible for validating the potential of specific receptors to be used to carry biologics through the BBB by transcytosis and for identifying biologics that are able to interact with these receptors via biophysical screening. Developing and conducting biophysical screens to identify binders to specific receptors. Characterise these binding interactions via BLI, SPR and other biophysical techniques. Managing your own research on a number of dementia projects and administrative activities, such as data entry into ELN (Dotmatics).

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in neuroscience/biochemistry with expertise and/or interest in BBB biology and its transport mechanisms together with relevant laboratory experience. Previous experience in in-vitro assay development including biophysical assays (BLI, SPR, mass spectrometry, ITC, MST, DSF) with a strong background in the use of biophysical techniques. You will also have the ability to manage your own research with an eye for detail and take responsibility for administrative activities such as management of lab reagent stock, lab book writing.
